How to use an ATM to manage your unit trust account

STANLIB and Standard Bank offer you, the client who has both a STANLIB unit trusts and a Standard Bank account the ability to view statements, buy additional units in your unit trust account and switch between accounts at ATM tellers. This is a unique service that gives you the ability to manage your investment at a time and place that is convenient to you.

How to use ATM transactions (Standard Bank Account Holders)

This service is available to existing Standard Bank Account Holders who have a STANLIB unit trust fund. To start using this service we need to link your AutoBank card with your unit trust account. This means that we will need your AutoBank card number, bank account number and STANLIB unit trust account numbers. At no stage will we ask for your PIN number and you should never divulge your PIN number. For technical reasons we need to link each separate unit trust fund that you have so please remember to let us know which funds you want to link.

There are several ways you can do this:

Ways to activate the link between your Standard Bank Account and your STANLIB unit trust account

1. When completing the STANLIB unit trust application form complete the relevant section titled (Section G: ATM Link Request) with the banking details and once your application is processed, your accounts will be linked. Please note that at no stage must you divulge your PIN number. The accounts are linked with the account numbers only and the information is confidential.
2. If you already have a STANLIB unit trust account, contact our call centre during office hours on 0860 123 003, speak to one of our professional consultants and request that your accounts be linked. You will need your unit trust account number and your AutoBank card.
3. If you are using our STANLIB Online, complete the form under “Unit Trust ATM Linking”. You will need to print this form and fax it through to us on 086 727 7501 for processing.
4. The process of activating the link takes three working days.

Using the ATMs once you are linked is fairly straightforward and you can follow the menu options on any AutoPlus machine. Enter your card and PIN number as normal and follow the options as you require.

Buying more units:

1. Go to any Standard Bank AutoPlus machine (usually has full keypad)
2. Enter your pin as usual
3. Select the Unit Trust/Shares (Equities) option
4. Then select "purchase additional unit trust"
5. Enter the amount of money that will purchase the additional units
6. STANLIB will confirm the investment within 14 working days by sending welcome pack or we will forward you a statement confirming additional investment and value date.

Switching from one STANLIB unit trust into another (please note that both unit trust funds must be linked to your card)

1. Go to any Standard Bank AutoPlus machine (usually has full keypad)
2. Enter your pin as usual
3. Select the Unit Trust/Shares (Equities) option
4. Then select "switch between funds" option
5. Enter the amount of money that will be switched into the other fund
6. STANLIB will confirm the investment within 14 working days by sending a welcome pack of we will send a statement confirming the additional investment and value date.
