Herman van Velze, BEng, MBL – Head of Balanced proposition
Herman started his investment career in 1993 as a mining analyst and resource portfolio manager. He was appointed Head of Research at Standard Corporate and Merchant Bank in 1998. After the merger that created STANLIB, Herman joined the portfolio management team initially responsible for specialist mandate clients. This was later expanded to include retirement funds. In 2009, Herman was appointed as the Head of Core Equity as well as Balanced Funds. In addition, Herman heads up the resources research team. Herman has a value orientation, but has strong focus on the bottom-up identification of turnaround companies, typically companies that will achieve solid upside as restructuring benefits roll out.
